More about this game
You start with a four-by-four grid containing two numbered tiles. Every time you move, all tiles slide as far as possible in that direction, and a new two or four tile appears in an empty spot. When two tiles with the same number collide, they merge into one tile with double the value. The difficulty increases as the board fills with different numbers, restricting your movement options. A run ends when the grid is completely full and no adjacent tiles match, leaving you stuck.
Tips
- Keep your highest value tile safely locked in one corner by avoiding swipes that would pull it out into the middle of the board.
- Build a structured chain of descending numbers right next to your largest tile so they can easily merge into it in sequence.
- Remember that new tiles have a ten percent chance to spawn as a four instead of a two, which can disrupt your patterns.
Questions
What happens when I reach the target number?
A victory screen appears when you create the golden two thousand forty-eight tile, but you can choose to keep going and build even larger numbers until you run out of moves.
How do I lose the game?
You lose when all sixteen spaces on the grid are completely filled and no adjacent tiles share the same number, leaving you with zero available moves.
Can I undo a move?
No, every slide is permanent. You must carefully plan your directions to avoid trapping small numbers between larger ones, as there is no way to reverse a mistake.
