More about this game

Love That Breaks the Mountain is an interactive ballad where you play as Elaria, a wood elf raising seven daughters after the loss of her dwarven husband. The core loop involves reading the story, making choices that affect your Roots, Flame, and Bond meters, and speaking with your daughters in the council phase. The game ends with a legacy summary for each daughter, determined by your final meter balances and the traits they developed. Your decisions shape whether they lean toward the forest or the mountain.

Tips
  • Keep an eye on the Roots, Flame, and Bond meters at the top of the screen, as they determine the final ending you will receive.
  • During the council phase, asking questions increases your Bond meter by exactly 3 points each time you speak with one of your seven daughters.
  • Aim for a balanced legacy by keeping the difference between Roots and Flame within exactly 18 points by the end of the final chapter.
Questions

How do I increase the Bond meter?

You can increase the Bond meter by making specific choices during the story chapters and by asking your daughters questions during the interactive council phase.

What happens if I don't ask any questions in the council phase?

If you try to leave the council without talking, the game will automatically ask a question for you to ensure you have at least one interaction with them.

How many endings are there?

There are three main endings based on your meter balances: a balanced hearth, a mountain-focused legacy, or a forest-focused legacy, each changing the final text.
