More about this game

Starfall Tap is a fast-paced reaction game where your only goal is to catch a falling star before it hits the ground at the bottom of the screen. You start by tapping the stationary star in the center. Once caught, a new star immediately spawns near the top at a random horizontal position. The base falling speed is 145, but it increases by 10 units for every point you score. The run ends instantly if the star drops past the 875-pixel mark.

Tips
  • The star always spawns at a fixed height of 315 pixels, so keep your eyes focused on the upper third of the screen after every catch.
  • The speed increase caps at 24 points. Once you reach a score of 24, the star falls at its maximum speed of 385 units per second.
  • The star has a width of 92 pixels and spawns between horizontal coordinates 90 and 414, meaning it will never appear cut off at the very edges.
Questions

How exactly does the difficulty scale?

The star starts falling at a base speed of 145. For every point you score, the speed increases by 10. This scaling stops once you hit 24 points, locking the maximum falling speed at 385.

What causes the game to end?

The game ends immediately if the falling star reaches the ground line. Specifically, if the star's vertical position plus 40 pixels reaches the 875-pixel mark, you miss the catch and must restart.

Is the star's spawn location completely random?

The horizontal position is randomized between 90 and 414 pixels, keeping it within the 504-pixel wide play area. However, the vertical spawn height is always exactly 315 pixels from the top.
