More about this game
Checkmate Café is a classic game of chess played against a computer opponent in a cozy setting. Your goal is to checkmate the opponent's king by placing it under attack with no legal escape. On your turn, select a piece to see its legal moves and move it to an open square or capture an enemy piece. You can choose between Easy, Medium, and Hard difficulties. The game ends when a king is checkmated or if a stalemate occurs when no legal moves remain.
Tips
- Control the center of the board early to give your pieces more mobility and limit the opponent's options.
- Watch out for captures; on Easy, the opponent might miss them, but Medium and Hard will punish mistakes.
- Remember that pawns can promote to a Queen, Rook, Bishop, or Knight when they reach the opposite end of the board.
