More about this game

In this interactive narrative, you guide Brendan and Cody through a tense nighttime encounter when Lillian arrives uninvited in the rain. Your goal is to manage two meters: Boundary clarity and Child safety. You start with 32 Boundary and 28 Safety points. During the conversation, you select Firm, Angry, or Compassionate responses. Each tone shifts these meters and affects Cody's bond with Maisie. The run ends after eight scenes, revealing one of three outcomes based on your final stats.

Tips
  • Firm choices provide a strong boost to your Boundary meter, adding up to 15 points, making them great for holding your ground.
  • Angry choices establish boundaries but cost you up to 12 points in Child Safety, frightening three-year-old Maisie in the process.
  • Compassionate choices are essential for raising Child Safety, offering up to a 17-point gain and improving Cody's bond with Maisie.
Questions

How do I get the best ending?

To unlock the A Door, Not a Weapon ending, you must finish the episode with both your Boundary and Child Safety meters at 72 or higher, and achieve a bond score of at least 2.

What happens if my meters are too low?

If your Boundary meter is below 60 or your Child Safety meter is below 52, you will receive the An Unsteady Threshold ending, meaning the children carried too much of the anger.

Who am I controlling in the story?

You make dialogue choices for two characters: Brendan, who is dealing with his ex-partner Lillian, and his son Cody, who interacts directly with three-year-old Maisie in the hallway.
